Surfing Artists International
Industry Setting – Surf prints that surfers would purchase were near non-existent to the world. The only prints that were on the market gave the impression non-surfers painted them, and therefore were not taken seriously.
Challenge – A small gallery on the island of Ocean City, NJ wanted to expand by starting a company that sold reproduction prints of their artist’s original work. This means Surfing Artists International would have to organize their team, who were surfers by day and artists by night, to meet deadlines even when there were waves.
Strategy – Develop an identity that sent the message of a company that was established but relevant. Target the core of the surf industry and then branch out to print distributors.
Result – Within 18 months of the start of SAI their prints were being distributed in 60+ countries and to over 10,000 accounts.
